In this regard EPF authorities came up with an idea of UMANG or the mobile application. UMANG helps all EPF subscribers to settle claims by using their mobile phones.
Use of UMANG mobile app
Some time ago Employees Provident Fund Organisation released notification about settling employee pension quickly. In this notification it clearly said that every employee will get pension and gratuity on retirement day itself.
However it will take some more time to make this a reality. It is so because many other things are to be taken care of as well. In the same way settling Employees Provident Fund Organisation claims by using mobile app will take a few more months.
EPFO new app UMANG: Bandaru Dattatreya
On other hand Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya also added one more thing. Minister Dattatreya said that his retirement fund organisation is continuously developing and improving online portals. It is so because every day they receive many claim applications.
In order to issue and clear claims they started new UAN online portal. This portal guides EPF members about process to settle claims online. While on other hand there is always option of selecting offline method to settle PF claims.

Thoughts on UMANG mobile app
Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya also said that UMANG is short form for Unified Mobile App for New Age Governance App. Moreover this app will receive provident fund related claims. While these claims will be only through mobile. That is the reason you use mobile phone to claim your provident fund.
Employees Provident Fund Organisation also plans to settle claims in just some time that means hours. It also plans to make announcement of EPF rate in August of this year. Mr. Dattatreya said that there will be many facilities for all EPFO subscribers. One of them is housing subsidy through HUDCO tie up.
EPF withdrawal claim processing time
Currently it takes a lot of time to settle withdrawal claims. But if UMANG comes in to action then you can settle all your EPF withdrawal claims in just few hours. Authorities even said that withdrawal claims under employees provident fund may settle in three hours also.
However for this to happen all provident fund offices should be connected. To make such a system retirement fund got CDAC on board. Thus EPFO together with CDAC improve technology in all EPFO offices. Besides to update or upgrade technology in offices it will take some time.
CDAC is actually Centre for Development of Advanced Computing and it has its centres in Pune, Delhi, Secunderabad and Gurugram or Gurgoan. So CDAC with EPFO organisation together will work towards making UMANG.
UMANG, Digital India
UMANG is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India campaign. This is also a master app or application for all government services in India. It is also because of UMANG or Unified Mobile App for New Age Governance that all government services integrate in one platform.
Indian Government services that will be part of UMANG are Passport services, income tax services etc. Even land records, e – post or Employees Provident Fund is also part of this application. That is why Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said that EPF organisation will bring UMANG to make PF withdrawal process quick.
