Coal strike postponed for 3 months for CMPF and EPF merger

Coal strike which would start today has been postponed. Well there was a strike to start today. And this was to protest merger of Coal Miners Provident Fund with EPF. However trade union said that it postponed this protest.

Calling off coal mine workers protest

As of now coal strike protest has been postponed. And this delay is for next three months. However earlier workers planned to strike work. And they planned for three day strike. Plus this strike would began on 19 June. However there were some positive discussions.

And then this protest on merger of Coal Miners Provident Fund with EPF postponed. Hence for next three months there will be no coal worker strike. And this is what Indian National Mineworkers Federation said. Also know UAN login EPFO member portal.

Five trade unions called strike

Earlier five Central Trade Unions planned this strike. Moreover these five unions are BMS, INTUC, CITU, HMS and AITUC. On other hand 5 lakh workers were to go on strike. Besides this Singareni Collieries and workers of Coal India had to go on strike.

All these trade unions were against merger of CMPF and EPF. While here EPF full form is Employees Provident Fund. And CMPF full form is Coal Mines Provident Fund. However because of strong positive notes. This strike called off.

Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner talks

It was Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner who came in between. In addition this was at the end that strike called off. Because Deputy Commissioner, Central, Kolkata held discussion. While this discussion had positive outcome. It is so because there was detailed discussion.

Moreover this discussion was between Coal Secretary and Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner. Additionally Centre said that there is no decision on merging. Thus EPF and CMPF will not merge as of now. Points to remember

CMPF pension will continue. However if you wish to continue Coal Mines Pension Scheme, 1998. Then employees and employer must contribute. Moreover there should be equal contribution from both of them.

In case there is issue regarding this. Then JBCCI-X will check all things. Further JBCCI-X full form is Joint Bipartite Committee for the Coal Industry. Therefore Committee will look in to this issue. And accordingly they will make decision.

Finally now we know that there will not be any coal strike. Besides all this is because of in detail discussion among higher authorities. Thus it will be easy for every person. On other hand there will be no merger of CMPF and EPF funds.
